Biography

Avis Lau is a Partner and one of the founding members of H.M. Chan & Co in association with Shihui Partners.

Avis is an experienced corporate and capital markets lawyer with an extensive track record advising on a broad range of corporate finance transactions, including cross‑border mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers, joint ventures, private equity transactions, corporate restructurings and reorganisations, initial public offerings and other fundraising exercises. Her clients include listed and private companies, investment funds and institutional investors across a wide range of industries.

Avis has led numerous complex cross‑border transactions involving Hong Kong‑based businesses and PRC‑related groups, including leading the Hong Kong law aspects of a transaction recognised as “Deal of the Year” by China Business Law Journal.

Her work has been consistently recognised by leading legal directories, and she has been ranked as a “Rising Star” by IFLR1000.

Prior to joining the firm, Avis practised at a leading Hong Kong law firm, where she advised on a wide range of corporate and capital markets transactions.

Avis is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England and Wales.
